Fishing Report 18th April

Land based: People wading the flats after dark have still been spearing some nice size cobbler. In the Dawesville cut of the jetty’s anglers are catching herring, tarwhine and some skippy. Ive heard a couple of reports of salmon being caught off the ocean end. Anglers fishing the rock walls and jetty’s around the Mandurah channel are finding nice sized yellowfin whiting along with small sand whiting, herring, salmon trout, occasional flathead and flounder, medium sized tailor and some big skippy. Anglers fishing the banks of the serpentine and murray rivers have reported some big bream and occasional mulloway.

Best baits:  worms or coral prawns, mulies.

Beaches. there has been some reports of salmon getting caught along white hills, Preston stretch on the reefs and in the bay at Tims Thicket. There has also been the occasional snapper taken towards Preston aswell.

 Best baits: mulies and mullet fillets

Crabs: Boat-based crabbers have finding the best results drop netting in the deeper sections in the drop offs of either the Peel or Harvey.  

Boats: Dhufish, snapper, breaksea cod and some nice sized baldchin groper are being caught out of 40-60 meters of water. People anchoring on the James service and burleying are finding some medium sized dhufish and big snapper. Anglers trolling and casting the estuary have found tailor, salmon trout and herring.

Best baits: squid, mullet, octopus and smiling jacks slow trolled for the tailor.
